In its heyday of the 1930’s through the 1960’s, it was unlike any other amusement park ride. Few were constructed, and even fewer became classics… leaving lasting memories, while being deemed legendary by those fortunate to have ridden the gravity powered cars through hand-crafted troughs lined with cypress. The “Flying Turns” coaster was no ordinary ride – and Knoebels Amusement Resort in Elysburg, Pennsylvania is no ordinary amusement park. Together, they are the perfect complement.

After an absence of nearly four decades – and roughly seventy years since last constructed in the United States – the “Flying Turns” is back! With virtually no available historic plans or construction documentation, park president Dick Knoebel, ride designer John Fetterman, construction consultant Leonard Adams, and the entire design and construction crew are in the final stages of a 20 month construction project, building an all-new ‘classic’ coaster… rekindling a passion and craftsmanship thought lost to time.

In the fall of 2006, Storytellers Media Group out of Cleveland was granted permission by Knoebels to document the construction of the “Flying Turns.” Flying Turns - Resurrecting a Legend will provide a detailed account of the project through exclusive never-before-seen video, photographs and interviews. In addition, the DVD will include “Special Features” about Knoebels Amusement Resort and the “Flying Turns.”

It’s your chance to be a part of this historic one-of-a-kind project. See, hear and experience what it takes to bring back a legend. Then visit Knoebels in 2008 and ride the “Flying Turns” for yourself. There’s nothing else like it in the world!

Flying Turns - Resurrecting a Legend --- available on DVD Summer 2008.
